After
12 years in the sleepy little valley of Kangaroo Creek, we are
moving. We love our home here but feel that we need to
down-size and move a little closer to town. And the hills
here are not kind to my aging knees.
We
have been looking at properties for a while now and have found
just the right place, with flat ground and only four klms from
town, two acres
.
. . "on the edge" of Tenterfield in northern N.S.W.
Of
course there will be work to be done when we get there, new dog
runs and lots of fencing, not to mention the gardens. We
will have town water again so my love for gardening will see me
out in the yard putting in hedges and flower beds.
There
is a huge 12m x 6m shed on concrete floor that will be converted
into a kennel block, so that in winter the dogs can be brought
in out of the frost & snow. Yes, snow ! (on
occasion)
It
is an older style cottage that still has some of it's original
features - tall ceilings, cast-iron fireplace and front verandah
with louvre windows. We will do a bit of restoration work
after we have the dogs set up - mostly just a lick of paint and
the repositioning of a few walls.
We
move on 20th September, and I can assure you that packing up
after 12 years is no fun. So many silly little things that you
collect - some very sentimental, others you can't even remember
where you got if from !!!
Making
decisions on what stays, what goes and what gets chucked . .
.
Tenterfield
looks like a lovely town, lets hope the natives they are
friendly . . .
It's
all just another journey really . . . . .
