This was my first visit to the WDS and my first visit to Paris.

Although not as well organized as Crufts, there were more entries and there

were many breeds that I have never seen or heard of before.

I was especially taken with the Saarloos Wolfdog

that are 80% wolf.

There were 59 cattle dogs exhibited and Heelersridge was well represented.

Results as follows -

DOGS:

"Va Bene Neverland King" - 2nd in Intermediate Class (King's son)

"Heelersridge Emublu King" - 2nd in Champion Class (River's son)

"Heelersridge Working Class Man" - 3rd in Junior Class (Bart's son)

BITCHES:

"Va Bene Nota Bene" - 1st in Intermediate Class (King's daughter)

"Va Bene Limited Edition" - 1st in Champion Class, Challenge Bitch & R/up BOB (King's daughter)

"Narwee Cinderella's Ranch" - 2nd in Puppy Class (Baron's daughter)

My thanks to Zuzana Behne (Va Bene Kennels, Germany)

and

Milan Svarkovski (Cinderella's Ranch, Czech Republic)

for exhibiting our dogs and their progeny - you have made me a very proud breeder.

 SHOW REVUE

The days leading up to Best in Show were filled with the hustle and bustle of busy show rings

But the judging of the groups at the end of each day left a lot to be desired.

Dogs were run out into areas of the ring that were poorly lit and judges had difficulty seeing them move.

Immediately after the winners were announce the lights were dimmed and

the audience stood up to leave.

The poor handlers and their dogs that had just won such a prestigious event

were left in the dark in the middle of the ring !

And at the end of the  show on the final day came the judging of the Best In Show

But again it was very disappointing - poor lighting, insufficient seating and

bad organization made the evening seem chaotic.

And again the winners were left standing in the dark!!!

The french seem to think that bringing a huge pack of unleashed fox hounds into

the ring with french horns blaring out was spectacular - but I felt sorry

for the BIS winners that were still in the ring being photographed

. . . very disorganized and it all looked very messy

But I was warned about the French . . .

Paris was wonderful

 the street cafes

the museums

the Eiffel Tower

the Sexy Gadgets shops

the unbelievable traffic congestion

the friendly "bonjours"

Such a different way of life

We had 7 days in Paris

including the 3 days at the show

plus 1 day in London

Trish & Meredith were great travelling companions

without them it would not have been as much fun

Would I go to Paris again???

. . . Oui, c'était magnifique  !
